sKeTch HapPy :)

Exhausted but happy!

Quite a whirlwind weekend- I did the "Festival on the Ponce." Moderate sales (Sunday was pretty slow -very overcast and closed early because of the rain) but April showers do bring May flowers.  My original "Eve" sold. She is one of my favorites so I was thrilled that she found a good home. I'll be back in Hot-Lanta again next weekend for the "Sandy Springs Artsapalooza." I am excited and hope to get a few new things ready but I am not going to stress about it if I can't.  Life is too short.

I thought I'd post a few sketches I did during the festival. As you'll see I very influenced by my immediate surroundings. There is always something to be inspired by with Life a'buzzing all around!
aviator with balloon art

First is this little sketch, "Dreaming of Flying." An angelic cutie pie was toddling behind her Dad wearing the sweetest felt hat that really reminded me of an aviator's cap. She was intently staring at the birdhouses a couple in the adjoining booth to my left were selling (such a nice couple -he even brought danishes to share Sunday morning and the birdhouses, classy architectural wood ones that any bird would envy)
Dogs on Wheels Hotdogs

Next is Muslimah. She is an amazing lady who owns her own business, a hot dog stand and truck -"Dogs on Wheels Hotdogs" Her cart was directly across from my tent. Besides being quite the driven business woman, she is just adorable in her red and white polka dot headband and thick black braid.  Just too perfect an opportunity to pass up. (& Yes, I did buy a hotdog -it was Yummy)
African American Hot Dog Vendor

Finally, there is Ashli, who I really enjoyed getting to know. She creates notepads, buttons, and bottle openers as Big Yellow Dog Designs (link is to her shop on Etsy). We got ridiculously lucky and had an empty space between us so I was able to open up a portion of the tent and use the side (other than when it rained on Sunday) Sooo much nicer than being cooped up inside the tent the entire time. I haven't completely figured out the best way to display my art, prints, wood blocks, plus me and not be cramped in the 10'x10' space. But I digress, back to Ashli, specifically to one of her designs. Notice the tiny button on the sketch pad, well earlier in the day she had a tote bag with the antler image larger and the words. "You're a Dear" (cute) It sold. My sketch is an opposite take on the theme -I call it "Oh Dear." I am a bit enamored with her. I think she'll become the inspiration seed for an upcoming little canvas.

Got to go now -Just wanted to shoot out an update on the artsy part of my life! If you'll be around Atlanta the weekend of April 12th & 13th. please come visit me a the Sandy Springs Artsapalooza. I will be located at Booth 5. Hope to see you there!
